Unleash Your Imagination While Creating Unforgettable Moments

Albany Children’s Theatre aims to produce a variety of different style productions each year.

Some performance types Albany Children’s Theatre produce include:

Fully staged junior musicals

Junior musicals are open access and anyone who auditions for a junior show will be offered a place as either a leading, supporting, or ensemble performer. Junior shows are shorter in length, often running between 45 minutes and 1 hour. Junior musicals are restricted to our junior members with all performers required to celebrate their 5th birthday before opening night, and can not have celebrated their 19th birthday before closing night of the production.

Variety style concerts

Variety concerts are by invitation only and are performed by our junior ensembles, solo voice students, and invited community members. These offer the opportunity to demonstrate learning from throughout the year, while also allowing performers to demonstrate their own unique skills and abilities that might not always shine in a staged musical.

Fully staged full length musicals

Full length musicals allow our junior members to work alongside our established adult performers in the creation of a full length musical. These performances are by audition only and have limited roles and ensemble places. All performers will be given feedback on their audition if requested, however not all auditionees will be offered a place in the performance. The shows selected are suitable for family audiences and generally feature children and young people in lead and supporting roles.

Community Performances

Albany Children’s Theatre is occasionally provided with the opportunity to perform within the community at festivals, market days, and other special events. These performances are generally put together from existing material from our stage performances and concerts.

Each performance provides the opportunity for our members to put into practice all they have learned through workshops and rehearsals, to create something magical that is open to the public to enjoy.

Performances are supported with full staging including sets, props, costumes, theatrical lighting, sound, and special effects. Depending on the production we also utilise live musicians.
