Due to the unexpectedly high number of participants expected for the Moana Junior after 104 audition applications were received, it became necessary to raise additional funds to accommodate the extra cast members. To address this, it was proposed that a variety-style concert be organized, featuring both young performers and more established community artists. The concert included 18 performers who showcased their favourite songs from well-known Broadway shows like Little Women, Wicked, Spelling Bee, Rent, Matilda, Annie, and others. It was a delightful evening at the Albany Town Hall and resulted in over $1500 being raised for Moana Jr.
Moana Jr

Moana Jr. was the highlight of the year, featuring a cast of 84 young performers and 10 backstage helpers. The production aimed to provide “open access,” allowing any child between 4 and 18 to participate if they made it through the audition. Out of 104 applicants, 88 successfully auditioned, and 84 made it to opening night. Despite challenges, including COVID-related setbacks and songs in different languages, the young cast worked tirelessly during the seven-week rehearsal period. The show attracted over 900 attendees across six performances and received valuable feedback from the Independent Theatre Association for future improvements.
The Lion King Jr

Lion King Jr. was brought to life by over 80 young people for two remarkable performances at the Albany Entertainment Centre. Once again we employed the “open access” model and allowed every person who attended an audition the opportunity to perform in the show. Additionally we also had a youth crew taking on key roles backstage. Audiences were delighted by the final productions with an overwhelmingly positive response to the performances from our lead and supporting actors, the spectacular costumes and sets, and beautiful singing. In total the show was enjoyed by over 1200 audience members.
The Little Mermaid Jr

The Little Mermaid Jr was our biggest show to date with over 100 performers and 20 backstage helpers all under 18 years of age, and 2 young people being mentored for this production in stage management and marketing. The show was a huge success with over 1400 tickets sold across 3 performances. Once again, we employed our “open access” model allowing everyone who wanted to be a part of the show the opportunity to shine. The beautiful costumes, delightful singing, and lively dancing was adored by audiences with fabulous feedback from many members of the community.
